Nigel Robinson

Fairly prolific children's author. He has written many novels, mainly aimed at young teenagers, including sci-fi, mysteries and horror. Has also written quite a few Dr. Who and other film/TV novelisations. Amongst his books is a shortish mystery type series set in the world of show jumping. I think these were the only pony stories he wrote.
